Week 38: Strength for the Final Stretch
You’re almost there, mama. The finish line is just ahead, but God is still at work in both your womb and your heart. These last days can feel long and heavy (physically, emotionally, spiritually) yet they are rich with purpose. Every moment is part of His divine preparation for the sacred work of birth.
Your Baby This Week
Your baby’s lungs have strengthened, and their vocal cords are ready for that very first cry, the sound that will echo heaven’s joy. Their nervous system is fully developed, and they now have a firm grasp, soon you’ll feel it when those tiny fingers curl around yours for the first time.
Your baby can recognize familiar voices and sounds, which means they already know your voice and feel comforted by it. They’re practicing breathing movements, sucking, and gripping, all essential skills for life outside the womb.
“But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.” — 2 Chronicles 15:7
Your Body This Week
At 38 weeks, your body is finishing its masterpiece. You might feel more pelvic pressure, backaches, or restless nights, signs that your body is aligning with the timing of labor. It’s normal to feel both eager and anxious right now. Remember, your body was made for this. Every contraction, every twinge, every moment of waiting is evidence of God’s perfect design.
Prayer for the Week
Lord Jesus, I can’t wait to hold my baby’s hand for the first time. Thank You for bringing us so far. As I enter these final days of pregnancy, I ask that You fill me with Your strength and peace. When I feel weary or afraid, remind me that You are my refuge. Give me power in my weakness and courage in my surrender. My trust is in You.
Amen.
Encouragement
Mama, you are doing beautifully. God hasn’t brought you this far to leave you now. Even in the waiting, He is weaving strength into your spirit and purpose into your pain. Keep breathing, keep praying, and keep believing.
