Week 40: Perfect Timing

November 03, 20252 min read

You’ve made it, mama! Forty weeks of growing, carrying, and trusting. This week marks your baby’s official due date, though God’s perfect timing might have a few more surprises in store. You may feel like your heart and your body are both bursting at the seams with anticipation, and that’s okay. The waiting isn’t wasted. God is still working, even here, in these final, quiet days of expectancy.

Your Baby This Week

Your little one is fully grown and ready for life outside the womb. By now, your baby likely weighs between seven and eight pounds, with strong lungs, chubby cheeks, and a perfectly formed body. Each tiny detail (every eyelash, every heartbeat) has been knit together by the hands of the Creator.

While you wait, your baby is still being sustained and nourished by your body, continuing to receive strength and fat stores for those first few days of life outside the womb. Every day of waiting is a day of preparation, not delay.

“We are glad whenever we are weak but you are strong, and our prayer is that you may be fully restored.” — 2 Corinthians 13:9

Your Body This Week

At 40 weeks, you might feel more uncomfortable than ever, heavy, restless, and emotionally stretched thin. Your mind may race with every twinge and contraction, wondering, Is this it? But even in the uncertainty, your body is working exactly as God designed it to. Every ache is a sign of progress. Every tightening is a reminder that birth is near.

God’s timing is perfect. He knows the exact moment your baby will take their first breath. He sees you in the waiting and He calls you to trust that His plan is good.

Prayer for the Week

Lord, I am weary, yet so expectant. Thank You for bringing me to this final stretch. Even when I feel uncomfortable or impatient, help me remember that Your timing is always perfect. Strengthen my body for labor, calm my mind as I wait, and fill my heart with peace that surpasses understanding. Thank You for loving me and this baby so faithfully.
Amen.

Encouragement

These last moments before birth are sacred. When the world says hurry up, God whispers hold on, I’m not finished yet. Take these final days to rest, breathe, and soak in the beauty of what’s about to unfold. Soon, you’ll hear that first cry, the sound of answered prayer.
